September 17-October 17
It is just incredible to see the slow changes in a child. I am constantly amazed at how quickly they learn new things. I love the curiosity and intelligence of a child. They are so innocent, yet seem so wise. It really is so fun to watch Autumn at this age. I think every age is fun, but as they get older it definitely gets more fun as she becomes more interactive, funny, and playful. She is approaching those terrible twos, which I'm a little excited about! I have had a lot of fun trying to teach her what is right and wrong, and she is very good at listening. I am impressed at how well she chooses to do the right thing. I don't know how long this will last, but it sure is cute watching her run to her room and sitting in her time out chair when she doesn't listen to mommy. She will come right back out within seconds and say "sorry." And then my heart melts. Can't even get upset with her. Just want to always be kind and loving, and have her trust me no matter what. She is my little angel sent from above!
Here are some of my favorite pictures from Autumn's 17th month of life.
Sleeping: She can sleep for like 10-12 hours. It's incredible. It is so nice to not be woken up at 6am on a Saturday by her cry. She wakes up pretty much whenever we do. Can I say how awesome this is? I have talked to a lot of people and they all have said this is very rare. She definitely is my daughter :) Her naps are getting a little longer. They used to be 1.5-2 hours, now they are lasting from 3-sometimes 3.5 hours. I do think it helps that her room is blacked out. We just barely bought her a night light, which seems to help her sleep better and she doesn't wake up crying because the house is dark at night.
The day of the BYU vs. Utah game. I got these cute bows from her babysitter Jessica. I love how her eyes light up in this picture! She loves to smile and give kisses and hugs. She will come up to me and say "hugs" and is starting to purse her lips. She and I have a very close relationship. I have had a long Thanksgiving break...almost 9 days off of work and I can already tell we have gotten closer from the extra time we have spent together. I love dressing her, feeding her lunch, going out and running errands, and putting her down for her naps (which is SO easy to do by the way). She goes down so quickly and rarely fusses. During this month the weather was super nice so I tried to get outside with her as much as I could. Going on walks and taking her to parks is one of my favorite things to do. I love watching her learn new things by being around new kids. She is so kind to others. Always smiling and laughing and trying to be their friend.
Sundays are a completely different story. I have really struggled with the 1:00 church thing. She usually sleeps in later on Sundays, which means her nap runs right into church. I am grateful for the new time change of 9:00am church coming up in January. Yay! No more falling asleep in nursery leaders arms, or one of us staying home from church until she wakes up from her nap, or taking a fussy toddler out into the hallway because she's so dead tired!
It is so much fun doing her hair and dressing her up for church. She HATES wearing dresses though. She is constantly trying to figure out how to take the dress off :) It's so funny watching her pull up on it. Somethings you just have to get used to hun! Autumn loves to play with my jewelry and will get her hands on anything make-up or hair related. One morning we found her with mascara all over her face and hair. Oh the joys of having a toddler! I try and keep all my make-up up and out of the way but her arms just keep getting longer!
Smile! Autumn loves to smile and has the brightest expression. She has 7 teeth. 4 on top, 3 on the bottom. I'm interested to see when the next set will come in. Her two front teeth are truly adorable. So perfect for her little tiny face. She is getting taller and starting to eat a lot more foods.
This is what happens when I take her hair out at night and then let her sleep on it. Sonic the hedgehog?
One day after work we went to get Autumn some new shoes and I found this really cute teapot set. She loves pretending to play with it. It's so cute when she pretends to drink out of the cups and eat the cookies and brownies. Dad loves to play with her. He is such a wonderful dad. He is so loving and kind to her and treats her with so much respect. I can tell she has him wrapped around his little finger! I'm so excited to see how their relationship will grow as she gets older.
Autumn is starting to eat a lot more and is not as picky as she once was. From about 13-17 months she would only take bites of food. Now, when she is at daycare she'll eat pretty much all the food I send with her, plus probably more while there. It's pretty fun having her try new foods. She loves chocolate. Anytime I have something sweet she gets kind of fussy if I don't give her another bite right away. She loves green beans and olives the most. She likes apples, strawberries, bananas, oranges, milk, juice, water (loves water, esp. from my water bottle), crackers, granola bars, turkey meat, tuna and pb & j sandwiches, smoothies, spaghetti, anything home made, pudding, etc. She loves to eat on her own and use a fork or spoon to feed herself. She is getting much better at coordination. She still makes a mess, but at least most of the food gets into her mouth!
Anytime there is music on, she is moving to the beat. Dad likes to twirl with her! She is so cute to watch.
Awww. Such a sweet picture. I love to dress her in pink.
She is in a huge dress up stage and will wear anything that looks fancy or pretty. She loves to say "pretty" to her hair or clothes, or anything shiny like a Christmas tree. She dresses up a lot at daycare, so I bought her a few dress up things. I would still like to get more toys. Every time I go to the store there are tons of toys I would love to buy her.
Right here she is wearing my high heels.
Autumn playing dress up with Kahlan, her new best friend!
Climbing: Autumn is starting to climb up on anything and everything she can reach. We have to keep the chairs tucked into the table. Other than that she can get up on the couches, the recliner, and our dresser (which she isn't supposed to do). It's fun to see her climb up on things and see her smile when she gets to the top :)
One day we went to the park with unkie Dustie, who she is finally starting to recognize now when he comes to visit and work. Yay!
But she still has some warming up to do apparently :)
Dustin took us out to Chinese one night. Love being silly with her!
You can see the adoration!
Autumn came to my school to help me organize my classroom. She is so cute and fun to have there!
For conference weekend we went up to Richmond. In between sessions on Sunday we went to find some animals to pet. These goats were just on the side of the road so we stopped and Autumn got to pet them! She loves animals. She is always saying "doggy" anytime she hears a bark. And anytime she sees an animal that looks like a dog she will call it doggy. Precious!
Not sure what to think at first. Grandpa helped her figure it out. She loves her grandparents so much!
We had our very own pumpkin patch in Great Grandpa Bagley's backyard. Autumn helped us pick out some great pumpkins and we had a blast carving them with her (although she did not like putting her hands into the slimy mess!)
There's her pumpkin. And love those chubby cheeks!
Parks: Autumn has the best time at the parks around our house. Utah has some really neat playgrounds! She loves to swing and go down all the slides, no matter how tall. She is very brave and can climb up all the stairs by herself. I just barely started to let her do it on her own (usually if no other kids are around). Kids can be mean and uncaring I have decided. They don't understand taking turns and being gentle with the toddlers. Don't worry Autumn, I'm here to stick up for you :)
I just don't think there is a cuter person!!
I love putting matching bows in her hair. If I had extra money I would buy TONS of bows of different sizes and colors. It is so cute to see in her hair! She wears them all day long, with the exception of sometimes pulling them out during nap time. Her hair is getting longer and a lot easier to do things with.
We got Autumn her very own chair, which she loves to sit in and watch her shows. I will say "Autumn do you want to watch a show?" And she'll say "show" and get very excited and sit in her chair with her sippy cup and blanket.
The last trip to the cabin was pretty exciting this year. We got the Tahoe stuck in the mud and had to get the assistance of twigs and branches to get out! Autumn loves stickers too. She has a book of stickers and she calls them "ckars"
Her first time in nursery! Such an angel! I love her outfit and cute hair bows. She is growing up so fast. I love her at this stage. She did great and did not cry at all. I stayed with her for about an hour to help her out and she did fine the rest of the time!
She really loved playing with all of the toys.
Halloween carving that same night. So much fun!
She was obsessed with the pumpkins when they were lit up. She loves putting the lid on and off and stared at them all the time.
We carved them a little too early, so they went rotten before it was actual Halloween. Oh well, guess we learned our lesson :) I LOVE HER SMILE IN THIS PICTURE! Dad looks pretty hot too!
We put them inside just in case the HOA complained.
Just another cute picture of her in her moose pajamas :) She loves her crib and has not found a way to climb out of it yet. Yay! Lately she has been sleeping face down with her bum sticking straight up in the air!
Just another day at the park outside our condo. It was a cold day so we bundled up and went outside anyway!
And yet another day at the park by the high school. She loves to run to the playground. These next few pictures are my favorite!
A cute Halloween craft she made at daycare. So glad she is learning new things!
Well miss Autumn, you are a bundle of love and joy, and I just truly love you! Thanks again for wonderful memories and for adding so much happiness to our home. We love you!
