Family Reunion

Back in August a few of us headed up to the homestead for a family reunion (Spencer's mom's side of the family that is). This was my first time at the Chornous Family Reunion! I didn't know half of the people that were there, but there were some familiar faces. This family originated from Greece a few generations back and Monte Cristo was the homestead when they journeyed over to America. Now many years later we still get to enjoy a lot of the land--the cabin, the lodge, the fun trails, etc. The family still raises sheep and because of that we enjoy lamb several times a year as well.

One of the traditions they have every year is the horseshoe competition. Spencer didn't sign up, but his uncle Kevin asked him to be his partner. This was Spence's first time horseshoeing and didn't really know what to expect. He thought he would get out of the first round, but turns out...he and Kevin were a pretty good team and they made it all the way to the final round! Pretty impressive!! I was the cheerleader the whole time. It's fun being competetive with family!

Here they are! They got Runner UP and won these cool trophies.
We DO hold it against Kevin that he's a Ute fan. Just saying.

Richard and Michael showing their family pride.

And after the competition Spence decided to do some pretty baller tricks on the 3 wheeler. He sure is good with machines! That's one of the many reasons I fell in love with this fella'!

The happy wife.

Such beautiful Quakies!

Here is Richard chopping wood. He is getting so big it's crazy how fast he is growing up!

We decided to put the horseshoe on the mantle at the cabin. It says "Chornous Reunion Horseshoe Tournament 2011 Runner-up."

I took some pics of the cabin after we cleaned it all up to show y'all how awesome it is!

So it was definitely a fun weekend. We even had Spencer's cousin and her husband come up for a day and ride the dirt bikes with the boys. Other activities we joined in on: a silent auction, a cupcake decorating contest, lamb dinner, and a slideshow of the Chornous family. I hope we can attend next year! I enjoyed getting to know so many other people in the extended family.

Richard turned 13 a couple days before my birthday. He is such a great kid. Whoever he marries is going to be such a lucky girl. Happy Birthday Richard!

And we baked him an Oreo Milkshake. There is Christie Bear! She and Ben came down and joined in on the festivities. Her baby is due in like 3 weeks. We are so excited for her!

Be sure to vote on my poll...do you think it will be a boy or a girl? I get to find out on NOVEMBER 15th!!! We can't wait!
